Slamdance Submitted!!!
We have completed our submission to Slamdance!!! This was a day we have looked forward to and we have all worked very hard to get to this point. This is one of our top tier festival submissions. We have more deadlines approaching and with the help of Kickstarter we are going to be able to meet them.

Kickstarter Project Moves Forward
After one day of launching our Kickstarter project we are a third of the way to our goal. Greg Padilla became a backer followed by Jeff Utterback and Steve Dietrich. I have a good feeling we will meet our goal.

Kickstarter Project Accepted
Our project was accepted by Kickstarter today. This week we will put together all of the information and launch it. We are very excited to think that People Like Us will make it on the road. Stay tuned for the link.

Festival Deadlines for People Like Us
As the festival deadlines approach, we are finishing up the last minute post-production details of People Like Us. Warren Paine has added a new level of professionalism to the film with his work on the sound mix and score. Stay tuned for news on People Like Us' Kickstarter project.

Synopsis
Holden, a world weary young man intent on suicide, is taking his last ride to a place filled with sentimental value. Along the way, in a roadside motel, he meets Billie, a battered young woman in a relationship she wants out of. Billie has a history of bad decisions, but places everything on her decision to leave with the stranger Holden. The two drive through the harsh desert landscape together. Billie begins to chip away at the hard front Holden has worked so hard to put up. She is trying to convince herself as much as Holden that they have met for a reason. As he slowly lets her in, they form a bond made from innocence as if it is the first they’ve known. They camp out under the stars and dance in the moonlight realizing that in each other they have found what neither was able to find in the past, happiness. The world Holden found meaningless has suddenly found meaning. Billie, always short changed by life, finds a soul mate in the unlikeliest place. As in best of film noir, People Like Us is not satisfied leaving its two characters to live happily ever after, something has got to give and it gives in the worst possible way.

People Like Us makeup by Bridget Clarke
Hot off her work on the upcoming horror feature The Millennium Bug, Bridget Clarke was on board the People Like Us team from the beginning. The black eye she made for Billie was thoroughly convincing. It brought concern from nearby onlookers while we were in production at The Joshua Tree Inn. People Like Us ADR session 1
We had our first ADR session at Steve Dietrich's studio this week with Frank Rubio channeling Holden. We will be bringing Gabriela Alcantar for a few of Billie's lines next week. Check back for more photos.
Music for People Like Us
Baron is working on scoring the film with the help of Chris Barfield and Steve Dietrich. The score will mainly be made up of guitar based music. Baron had Paris, Texas in his mind during a lot of preproduction so expect to hear some slide guitar. There has been talk of compiling a soundtrack of music from and inspired by the film to be listed on Amazon and iTunes.
Post Production on People Like Us
Post production on the film is moving at a steady clip. Editor Monica Abeyta has been brought into the fold and successfully delivered a locked edit. We now move into finalizing the music and ADR before handing off to our audio engineer Warren Paine.
People Like Us production
People Like Us was filmed in November of 2009 in and around Joshua Tree and 29 Palms, California. Our motel scenes were shot at the famous Joshua Tree Inn. Steve Dietrich, of Cuba Las Vegas/Wives and Lovers fame, played our innkeeper and stayed in the Gram Parsons room. Production was a whirlwind experience. The film was shot on the Sony EX3 camera.
